Welcome to British Borders

Firstly, a very warm welcome to our website. At British Borders we are not just your typical Arma 3 role play community. By bringing together players from around the globe, who share our passion for role play, our members become part of our story and are proud to call us home.

We continue to forever challenge the conventional norms that so many Arma communities have come to accept, continuously raising the bar and setting new standards. Our extensive list of features, along with our fantastic user friendly website and committed staff team, help to deliver an enjoyable, unique and lasting gaming experience.

We would invite you to join us and become part of that experience.

My Journey

I founded British Borders back in 2012 when the Arma community was in need of a new, forward looking community with the ambition and determination to deliver a serious roleplay server members could really enjoy and call home.

A friend of mine first introduced me to Arma 2 back in late 2012. Having played DayZ only a few times, I soon became bored and began to realise this was not the game for me. I set out searching to see what other servers and game types were available.

It didn’t take long where I then found a new server called Takistan Life – immediately I became hooked and began to enjoy my time, spending countless days with random people, playing this life variant of Arma 2. Later that year sweeping changes took place and many members departed from the community, including myself, but that left me thinking. It was this moment that British Borders was born.

Since then I have never looked back, we have a superb team here at British Borders and a great member base. Unlike many communities which disappear after a year or even a few months, my main ambition is to make British Borders stick around and continue to be one of the most successful, reliable & enjoyable Arma 3 community.

My Role at British Borders

Since setting up the community, my role at British Borders consists of running the day to day operations of the community and servers. As part of my role i, along with the other board members, work on future plans and strategies to continue to make British Borders a global gaming community.

I also work closely with the website staff in managing and developing all aspects of the British Borders website.

Future Hopes for British Borders

British Borders has a bright future with many new plans and ideas, not to mention our Arma 3 Tanoa life server soon to be released. We are not going anywhere soon so i would invite you to join us today and make British Borders your home.

My Journey

I joined British Borders at around June in 2013 when it was a relatively small but stable and expanding rapidly community. It was at that time the UN was practically non-existing and the staff team was about 5 man strong in total and all worked out fine.

I enlisted as the UN General and a support member (that was still allowed at that time). For a good month, the UN flourished (some may disagree) and grew well in size and roleplaying capabilities whilst I was a support member and was in charge of being the first line of support for any players on Teamspeak and the server.

After that period, I got promoted into the Moderation team and together we were a very supportive cohesive team that was in charge of tackling misbehavior on the server and dealing with the associated issues that came with them. After a month, I was elected as the Head Moderator by the team and was put in charge of coordinating and supporting them.

Another 4 months have passed and I was promoted into the Administration team where I was put in charge of creating roleplaying scenario’s, catching hackers by checking irregularities in the system and being a solid line of support for the Moderation team.

Whilst in the administrator position the leadership of British Borders setup a HR role, which was in charge of overall staff management and at the same time being their moral support under lead of a director. Me and Grizzly were put in that role after 4 months of being an administrator and for a good 3 months we’ve taken charge into the handling and supporting of any staff member.

After the director in charge of HR left, Grizzly was put into that position and for a good year I was a staff leader under his firm but fair leadership. After Grizzly had to step down due to personal problems I took over in his role as Director of HR and lead the staff team for a solid year.

That year passed and I transitioned my responsibilities towards the development side of the server and have been in charge of that ever since and will continue to do so for many years to come.

My Role at British Borders

My current official role is Directing and managing the development of the server and its associated services whilst also being Maverick’s direct advisory organ and assisting Adam in his management of the staff team.

I also still help in the organization of all the different things that make up the community as a whole.

Future Hopes for British Borders

I hope for British Borders to come out of this transition period from Arma 2 to Arma 3 with the same quality and level of roleplay as it had in Arma 2. I personally believe we can achieve such a thing, but ultimately it will be a collaborative effort and the staff team needs to be a strong and cohesive team that knows it can count on any of its colleges.

That was sure the case in the early days of British Borders and with a unique opportunity we’re in now we can achieve such a thing. I plan to be a moral support in such a team and hope it will work out.

My Journey

I joined British Borders back in 2014 after watching some youtube videos looking into Arma 2 servers in general from DayZ, I also saw a lot of different roleplay servers and decided to take a look. British Borders was the obvious choice for me since 99% of the servers were either in USA, Australia, Germany or Russia which for someone like me from the UK a UK server made sense. After joining I just stuck around as a normal player trying to learn everything without dedicating all my time to one particular faction from starting in the Police force to changing to PMC Serco back to the police force which I stayed until I decided I was comfortable with my knowledge and wanted to reach SCO19. Upon reaching SCO19 after 1 year in the police force assisting with the management of it I stayed in SCO19 until my staff responsibilities took proiority and decided to leave until the server ended.

My Role at British Borders

Assistant Director - As a member of The Board my responsibility is to assist other members of The Board and give my input in the direction of the development of the community.

Staff Manager - I adopt this responsibility with the Assistant Director role as a manager to run the community staff team to ensure British Borders delivers the support it requires to function.

Future Hopes for British Borders

My future hopes is to stay within the staff team and even progress to Director one day helping the community run to its maximum potential and help steer the development to become the best role play server around.

My Journey

Hello, I'm Cado but my actual name is Callan or Cal. I joined British Borders in March 2016 where I found myself playing on the server almost daily and I got attached to the community instantly. I began by designing graphics for the website where I then accepted the role as Graphic Designer. I was heavily involved with the development of the website because of this and because of my previous experience of coding and programming, this led me to the next step of joining the Web Team. Soon after I also applied to be a member of support which was successful and has since progressed to a Moderator where I still am today. My latest progression was being promoted to Website and Systems Manager, as manager, I aim to bring new and exciting features to our Website and Teamspeak. Although a manager is a high-up position with important roles, I still very much aim to be the best I can be in the community and work on progressing through the staff ranks.

If you ever need to contact me feel free to message me on the website, contact me on Teamspeak or email me at cado@britishborders.co.uk

My Role at British Borders

So as I said I currently have four roles in the community and I am dedicated to them all. I am currently:

  • Website & Systems Manager
  • Moderator
  • Graphic Designer
  • As Website & Systems Manager my role is to maintain and improve our community website and TeamSpeak, introducing new and exciting features, whilst conducting scheduled updates and fixing any bugs. By researching new plugins and methods, I will implement changes which enhance our member's experience and encourage greater user interaction on our Website and the TeamSpeak server.

Being a Moderator i spend a large amount of time on our servers in order to make sure that everybody abides by our rules and community policies, both in-game and on Teamspeak. I am also able to check ban appeals and make decisions on appeals against bans of up to seven days.

My Graphic Designs are seen throughout the whole community. Whether on our website, Teamspeak and even in-game. I update them regulary to keep the community fresh and up-to-date.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

With BB I wish to continue and progress through the ranks of the staff team and improve the community where I possibly can.

    My Journey

Hello. My name is Chaz. I joined British Borders in March 2016, Being my first time on a Roleplay server I wasn't too sure what to expect, but I instantly grew to enjoy what British Borders had to offer as a community. From there on I became more involved within the community and accepted the opportunity to lead the PMC faction. In addition to this, I applied to join the staff team in June 2016 in which i was successful and now currently hold the position of Moderator.

    My Role at British Borders

I currently hold the position of Moderator which is primarily and in game based role which entails the Moderation of any servers associated to British Borders and slight forum moderation from time to time, I sometimes undertake small roles to help benefit the community where I can, anywhere from faction development to other small jobs that need doing.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I hope to see British Borders continue to thrive as an Arma 3 community and continue to build a strong community of players with the outcome of creating the best roleplay.

My own hopes for my place in this community are to continue positively contributing where I can to help forge this community into the best it can be.

    My Journey

I joined British Borders in 2014 because I needed to take my mind off some things. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was playing as a police officer arresting criminals and issuing tickets! Funny enough I was kicked for not being on teamspeak, so I decided to connect and see what all the fuss is about.I was hooked and fell in love with the game. Within a week I applied for membership and was on my way to become an official Police Cadet! Couple months later I was promoted to Police Inspector. Around the same time I was invited by the SCO19 Leader to join their faction.

After 6-8 months of being in SCO19 I managed to reach the rank of Squad Leader and Sniper Instructor. The days when being called a sniper was an elite title. Used to train for hours on long distance sniping as well as designing sheets for CQC (Close quarters combat).

I applied for the staff team and started out as a trainee support. Within 9-10 months I managed to work my way up to the rank of Staff Leader. Couple months after that I was given the award for Long Service (Be in the staff team for over a year).

    My Role at British Borders

As a Developer I am assigned with the responsibility of improving the visual aspects of our Tanoa Life server, creating new vehicle and clothing textures and map environments to enhance your role play experience.

In addition to this I am part of the web team and quite often can be found surfing the website and developing new features for you to enjoy.

If you have any new suggestions, I would love to hear them.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I wish the best for British Borders and I hope to see it grow in size and success.

    My Journey

I originally joined British Borders when Maverick contacted me in August 2017. I was looking for a community that would allow me to come on board, while teaching me a lot about Arma 3 coding. I had a basic knowledge when I joined, and over time I plan on expanding on that for as long as possible. Waffle took me under his belt, and i've been learning alot since. I'm still somewhat of a new member here at BB, so hopefully as time goes by I learn more and meet new people.

    My Role at British Borders

My role at British Borders is to develop the mission, with the other developers, and to learn as much as possible while a Jr. Developer.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

My future hopes for British Borders is to become competent enough in Arma 3 scripting to do just about anything they throw at me, and to contribute as much as possible to the community that has helped me.

    My Journey

I started my journey as a British Borders Recruit in August 2013 by this time the server was nearly peaking on mid-day to a full server and from the first time I joined I loved it, Everything from the roleplay to all the brand new features that British Borders had incorporated into their server. A month later I joined the community officially on September 7th 2013 and I loved playing as a Civillian for the first three months of being within the community.

After those months had passed I finally decided to make an Application for the Police Force and I got accepted and was made a Police Recruit and I loved role playing as a cop and it made me pass my intrests into being a police officer as I was growing up. A month later I was promoted in the Police Force as a Police Sergeant and an opening came up to be a Police Instructor and I accepted straight away my job at this point was training all the new applicants of the police force and I did that for the next 6 months on and off I then got promoted to Police Inspector which at the time was a big deal and I was only 15 years old and was so hyped to get it.

Then I decided to join the Staff team and I got accepted into the Staff team as a Trainee Support carrying out duties by helping out problematic cases on the server because someone or a group had not roleplayed a situation correctly, A month later I got my Support Tag and was hyped but then two weeks later GCSE's kicked in and I couldn't do much work from then on the BB server so I decided to leave and said my goodbyes to the server and the community at that point but I knew that wasn't going to be the end of me and I knew the server would do well because of the great community and the great people that helped build it to the community it is to this day.

I joined back into BB on December 2016 for a on and off occasion but I then got to know people better and a lot had changed within the time I had left. But then I seen Aron on when I was online and I was like "Jesus he's still here after all this time!", so I talked to Aron and instantly all the memories from the past experience with the BB server flooded back in and I just couldn't wait to help out in any way possible. I finished College with a Diploma in Computing and now I'm going to University this year to study Software Engineering. I'm currently going to be working towards my goals of getting a Master's Degree in Software Engineering and pursuing my dream Career as a Commercial Airline Pilot.

    My Role at British Borders

My role is to develop and maintain the features for the British Borders Mission file on the server and also listening to Aron as he's baby sitting me (For now!).

    Future Hopes for British Borders

My future hopes is to get this community back to the way it was and had started like where you could barely get onto the server half of the time because it was full and people would fight for slots (Literally), This is the way I see the future hopes for British Borders because we are dedicated to doing so.

    My Journey

Hi, my name is Magnus; I am 19 years old and come from Norway. I became a member of British Borders back in June 2014. BB had the first Arma 2 Life server that I ever tried and I instantly fell in love with it. I joined the Police Force as soon as I got the opportunity and climbed the ranks in the Police Force up to Police Inspector and ended up joining the SCO19. This was also around the first time I applied for staff.

My journey continued in the SCO19 and staff team and eventually climbed to the rank of Second in Command of the SCO19 and became a Moderator in the staff team. I have gained a lot of positive leadership and staff experience from my time as Second in Command in the SCO19 and Moderating the server.

I took a break after about one and a half year as a member and went away for a few months but came back strong, worked myself back up to the rank of Police Inspector, re-joined SCO19 and eventually joined the staff team as a Support member.

This period lasted for approximately another one and a half year before starting my one-year conscription for the Norwegian Armed Forces. Sadly, I could not get time for BB in this period so I had to leave my responsibilities in the staff team again and the SCO19. Up to this point, I had at least 1000 hours playtime on BB’s Takistan life server exclusively.

I learned a lot about leadership and myself during my year in the Army, I became more mature and disciplined than ever. It was a great, but tough experience. I was stationed in the Capital Guard Company, which had the responsibility of defending the capital of Norway (Oslo) if it ever had to come down to it. I went through 8 weeks with both physical and psychological training as a recruit in a boot camp before being stationed in Oslo. In my time there I got leadership training and went through an exclusive “Squad Leader course” which is 1 week (nicknamed: “the hell week”) without food and almost constant marching and still being able to lead your squad. Nevertheless, I did not give up, succeeded and was qualified to be a squad leader in my Troop.

I finished my year in the Norwegian Army July this year and went straight back to BB as soon as I was back. I have been reunited with my friends here and even made many new ones. BB is the kindest, most accepting communities I have ever been a part of. I applied and was accepted back into the staff team in November 2017 and are making history as we speak.

    My Role at British Borders

I have the role of a Trainee Support, my responsibility area are mostly on TeamSpeak where I have the honour of welcoming and introducing all new members that join our TeamSpeak server and giving out all relevant information about the British Borders community. My role also includes dealing with in game and out of game issues in the support channels and answering any questions one might have to the best of my ability. Overall, I will be supporting the community any way I can.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

That the British Borders Arma 3 Life server become the #1 life server as it did back on Arma 2. I will do everything I can do to help make this happen, which I am confident will happen. In addition, I would like to build my way back up the staff team.

    My Journey

I joined British Borders in late 2012, playing as a guest for a few months and eventually applying to join as a member. British Borders intrigued me and I decided to apply for staff, I worked my way up through the positions and eventually became Director of Human Resources. I was in this position for around a year before exiting the staff team. During my time here at British Borders, I’ve dealt with hundreds of issues, spoken with thousands of players and managed many different staff members.

    My Role at British Borders

My position consists of advising the community staff team on numerous things ranging from updates, meetings and crucial decisions that need to be made. I provide an impartial and knowledgeable view that comes from many years of experience here at British Borders.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I would like to see the community thrive and maintain its current state, fulfilling the needs of ArmA 3 players and enabling them to play on a serious roleplay server.

    My Journey

If you've been around the community for more than a few days, you've most likely spoken to me by now. I'm Eagle Eye, the only current administrator of the British Borders community.

I joined the community in September 2015. It didn't take long for me to realize that I wanted to contribute to this community by becoming a member of our staff team. Working my way up through several ranks, I started out thinking that I wanted to become a moderator, which seemed particularly challenging at a time when we had a large staff team of around 40, considering the competition and demands of the job.

Sooner than expected, I found myself in the position of moderator. Not too long after that, I also became a membership coordinator, adding to my normal responsibilities as a moderator. In that small membership team, I reviewed countless applications and interviewed a large number of new members - a demanding, but rewarding task.

    My Role at British Borders

In early 2016 I reached the rank of administrator. Starting out as a support staff member, this was something that seemed almost impossible because most staff members were either removed or left before achieving this rank. I can now say that I thoroughly enjoy being an administrator. I enjoy leading people, and this position has enabled me to do so in a great community.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

Continuing this journey, I am looking forward to assisting the community going forward even more and building a great place for enthusiastic ArmA III role-players, possibly even continuing my work in a new position should the opportunity arise.

Hello. My name is Marcus. I joined British Borders in June 2015 and been a member of the community ever since. In 2015 I joined the PMC known as SERCO and worked my way up the ranks to become second in command and loved every moment of it! My Role at British Borders

Late 2015 i joined the staff team now knowing how it would go and what would come of it but after 6 months plus i have worked my way up to the rank i am today Moderator. As a moderator I will spend a large amount of time on the server making sure all the rules and community policies are followed and enforced.

    My Journey

Hello I’m Kyle, I joined British borders in June 2017 and I was a member of the community in mid 2013 for 3 and a half years before having to take a year off due to work commitments. When I joined in 2013 the server was very popular and had some really friendly members online. I started playing on the server as a civilian for a few months before I joined the UN. I joined the UN as a recruit and worked my way up the ranks to a sergeant before leaving the UN to join the Police Force. I joined the Police Force as a recruit participating in training sessions before becoming a Police Officer. Again I worked my way up the ranks in the Police force and becoming a Sergeant, as a Sergeant in the Police force I also trained up recruits as part of my role. While I was in the Police Force I also applied for a staff position as a support. After nearly a year in the Police Force I then joined the COO19 as an officer. While I was a member of SCO19 I also got promoted from a support member to a moderator. I worked my way up the ranks in SCO19 and as a result of my professionalism I was handed the Role of SCO19 Commander. As Commander of SCO19 it was a big responsibility and on the other hand I was also a moderator which was just as much responsibility. I spent a lot of time performing training sessions and keeping on top of staff responsibilities. I was SCO19 Commander and Moderator for a further 6 month before being offered an Administrator role, I accepted the role and due to the responsibility of an Administrator I handed over the command of SCO19. I then spent the remainder of my time as an Administrator before leaving the community for a year break. I then rejoined the community and became a support member.

    My Role at British Borders

I currently hold the position of Trainee Support, my role involves giving introductions to all new members who join the team speak and to give them all the relevant information about British Borders to set them on their way. I also deal with both in game and out of game support issues this could be anything from a technical issue to a rule break. I will also assist other staff members in any way I can.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

To stay as part of British Borders staff team and see it become the leading Arma 3 life server. I wish to continue my progress through the staff team and to help the community thrive in any way I can.

    My Journey

Hello I'm Kieran, I first joined British Borders back in 2013 where i became and member and joined the police force. Although i joined in 2013 I was never really consistent throughout my time here as I'd stay for a year and leave then always come back. Coming back was one of the best decision I've ever made, as being apart of a community like this is not very common at all where you always feel welcome and have a great experience at the same time. As i see it without the amazing staff team that ran the server throughout my play time i feel as though I wouldn't of had the amazing memories I hold to this day and the friends I've made, so this i why i applied for staff, so I can make others enjoy their time at British Borders as much as I did.

    My Role at British Borders

My current role is Trainee Support, my role consists of helping out all members within the community with knowledge about the server, i also deal with in-game issues and TeamSpeak issues.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

My hopes concede of the server reaching it's goal of being the best Arma 3 life server, being able to help and progress within the staff team.

    My Journey

Hi, my name is Levi, currently 20 years old and I joined British Borders around August 2014 completely randomly because my friend wanted to play on the Arma 2 Takistan Life server. Since then I decided to stay around and here I am today. I was previously and Admin and got to the rank of Second in Command in SCO19. I am diabetic and have had diabetes since I was 3 and currently work full time as a carpenter. Some people get confused with the two types of diabetes and I have type one. This typically develops in children and young adults. In type 1 diabetes the body stops making insulin and the blood sugar (glucose) level goes very high. Treatment to control the blood glucose level is with insulin injections and a healthy diet. I am currently on 5 injections+ a day.

    My Role at British Borders

I have recently just joined the staff team again as a Trainee Support and my role is to deal with permissions, issues and any question people have within the community. I am here to help any new or experienced members – so please – if you need a hand just drop me a message on Teamspeak or PM me.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I would like to see Arma 3 be as successful as it was in its prime time on ARMA 2 with a high standard of role play.

    My Journey

Hello all, my name is Moyes and I have been a member of British Borders since the 14th February 2014. I first joined the BB Arma 2 Takistan life server and quickly felt at home. Throughout my time on the server I have been a member of every faction. I started my journey in the United Nations before joining the Secur4s PMC and later the Police Force. It was in the Police that I found the faction I loved: SCO19. I was a member of SCO19 twice achieving the ranks of Squad Leader and later the SCO19 Commander position. My time as SCO19 Commander is something that I am very proud of. The faction was a home and a family and the opportunity as commander was something that I cherish even to this day.

Outside of my faction life, I have also been a member of the staff team previously. Here, I progressed and became a Moderator and Membership Coordinator. I am very proud to once again be a part of the British Borders staff team, as it is a great community to be a part of and giving back anyway I can is always worth it.

    My Role at British Borders

My current role in British Borders is a Trainee Support. In my role I am responsible for any general player enquiries, issues and welcoming new players. I will use my experience and knowledge to help all members on the server and any other staff members. I also help to educate members on the rules and community policy to ensure the highest quality of gameplay experience possible.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I would love to see British Borders gain a large and active player base on Arma 3 like we previously had on Arma 2. British Borders has the potential to be the best Tanoa Life server and I know that I will be helping to achieve that goal anyway possible. Personally, I would love to progress in the staff team and maybe in the future surpass my previous achievements both in the staff team and factions.

    My Journey

Hello, my name is Jack Webber and I have been playing on BB since 2014 where I spent much of my time on the Takistan Life server. During 2015 I decided to apply for membership in the community as I was intrigued by the different factions and wanted to have a go. After this I applied to the Takistan Police Force and was willingly accepted. Playing a mix of civilian and police I made some great friends that I still talk to today. I spent a while in the police with a range of different scenarios that made the experience great; from long police pursuits to bank robberies, we did it all. Working myself through the hierarchy I began to train other officers in the faction with being given the Instructor role and later Sergeant. My police experience was great, but it was time to move on so in summer 2016 I joined the PMC for a short period of time, but left shortly after and was a member of the United Nations until the end of the server. From immigration control to drug busts my UN experience was great and enjoyed every minute of it. So here I am now, a while later getting ready for the Tanoa Life Server public release as a support looking forward to it as much as you guys are.

    My Role at British Borders

So right now I am a Trainee Support hoping to broaden my Staff experience. I am responsible for dealing with permissions on the Teamspeak, support issues and helping/guiding anybody that I can. Along with this I will also assist with other Staff Members if need be.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

I wish to stay part of the Staff Team and thrive within British Borders, to be at the top of the Arma community as i know it will do. I hope that the Tanoa Life Server is as popular as the Takistan Life Server, with a great team working behind the scenes for it!

    My Journey

Hello, my name is Liam but many of you may know me by my old name Victory. I have been fortunate enough to call this community home for more than three years. Back in 2014, I stumbled across British Borders after my previous ArmA II community was shut down. I immediately was drawn to the sense of camaraderie, friendship, and respect that can only be found here. I found myself interested in the United Nations faction in particular, and I’m proud to look back on it as the roots of my tenure in this community. In April 2015 I applied for staff for the first time. I knew that I wanted to commit myself further to the community I had grown to support and love. During my first tenure as a member of staff I held numerous responsibilities. I served as a Game Moderator, Forum Moderator, and Membership Coordinator throughout my time spent on the team, and it is what I consider to be my greatest contribution to this community.

In 2015 I also served as UN Major, the second-in-command rank within the faction, and I later managed to work my way up to faction leader of the SERCO Private Military Company as its Head of Security. It was at this time however that I became overstretched, and coupled with school, all of these positions became a drain on my ability to remain active enough to uphold my responsibilities. It was in December 2015 that my staff position was terminated, and I stepped down as SERCO Head of Security.

Two years later, and Tanoa Life on the horizon I felt it was finally time to return to the staff team and begin actively contributing to this wonderful community in the best way I know how. I am thrilled to be apart of such a fantastic group of individuals and I cannot wait to be apart of making British Borders the number one life server on ArmA III.

    My Role at British Borders

As of now my role within the community consists of two positions. Mainly, I am a trainee support. It is my job to make sure each and every member of the community is provided with professional assistance and a certain level of kindness, clarity, and above all honesty. I welcome new members to the community, and answer any questions they may have. On the side I have taken up a role in the Tanoa Border Force faction.

    Future Hopes for British Borders

It is my aspiration to retain status as a member of staff, and to work my way up the ladder once more. I believe that with the right amount of discipline, judgement, and most importantly, patience, I can continue to give back to this incredible community and help make it even better. I look forward to helping the community grow and build relationships with its members that last.
